Goyna Bori, alternatively known as Naksha Bori or Gohona Bori or Alpana Bori or Ornamental Daler Bori, is a unique item. Ornamental designs are made by using pulse paste for use as a fried delicacy during various festivals. It is made by artists from Purba Medinipur, West Bengal. The prime ingredients used are cowpea, postodana poppyseed, and various types of spices with postodana poppy seeds as its base. It is so delicate and unique that Rabindranath Tagore was so attracted to it that he preserved photographs of Goyna Bori in the art building of Shantiniketan. Due to lack of patronage, this wonderful culinary art of Bengal is losing its eminence.
